Is God still on His Throne?
I was getting gas a few weeks ago after the price went up 20 cents a gallon from the day before. It just so happened a guy I knew was getting gas at the pump next to me. He was commenting how the price of everything was going up and to him it seemed like the world was going to hell in a hand basket. I got my gas and headed on my way but started thinking about what the guy said and what people are facing in the world today.
People are facing all kind of troubles right now. We all are seeing the violence of the fighting going on in the world and the devastation it is causing on the people of the world. Then as I look a little closer to home. I think of people I know fighting illnesses. I have two cousins fighting cancer right now, I have a friend from church, who is fighting cancer. Now, multiply this by millions of people dealing with something devastating around the world.
You might ask, where is God and is He still on the His Throne? All, I can say is, you bet He is. All we have to do is look at the bible for examples of when things didn’t look good, God had a different plan.
The first story that comes to mind was the story of Joseph. His brothers wanted to kill him and ended up selling him into slavery. Wow! Talk about a bad day. Well, we all know the story, what Joseph's brothers meant for evil, God meant it for good.
Genesis 50:20
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
I also think of David when he was fighting Goliath. David didn’t look at the size of Goliath but the size of his God. This tells me that no problem is too big.
1 Samuel 17:45
45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
Some things seem way out of our control, and they are. But we do have a God in Heaven that is in Sovereign control of everything. This is my Lord and Savior that I pray to daily. I pray to God for my cousins and friends who are sick. I pray to God for the people around the world that need God’s help.
What a privilege we have to lift our needs up to God, our Creator, our Lord, and our Savior.
