Our Lives Made Whole
It is easy to get caught in the trap that if we act the right way or look the right way, then we will be more acceptable to God. Likewise, many people in the Old Testament and even today think that being religious is a way of winning favor with God.
Jesus spoke against this. Religion and good deeds can’t earn our way to heaven. We read this in Isaiah 64 verse 6.
Isaiah 64:6
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
Jesus came to end all that religion and hypocrisy that gives us a false sense of being righteous. He came to free us from those sorts of restraints and impossible expectations.
Psalm 23:5-6
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
Jesus came to forgive us, to restore us, to free us. When we live a life where we abide in Christ, we will experience a life where we will have divine love, joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, an enduring faith, gentleness of heart, and a strength of spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit.
