Be Content with Treasure in Heaven

1 Timothy 6:6-8 (NKJV)

6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

We live in an era of prosperity, and we have been blessed with possessions that some of our forefathers could not even imagine. We do have to be cautious and keep prosperity in perspective and not covet the things of this world. The world stresses the importance of possessions, but God does not. God is more interested in what our relationship is with His Son.

Luke 12:15 (NKJV)

15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

Having a relationship with God and having the peace He provides is a far greater treasure than the things of this world. The Bible teaches us to lay up treasures in Heaven.

Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)

19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
