“Adversity in Life”

We all experience adversity at some point in our lives. When adversity hits, we can feel lonely, and we feel like we are facing our situation all by ourselves and no one understands. During this time, we might wonder where is God? Why has He allowed this? Has He left me alone to struggle with this?

Even though we might feel like we are alone, and God has abandoned us that is not the case. David talks about this in Psalm 34.

Psalm 34:17-18

17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Adversity is not a time when God leaves us, but this is the time that God is at His closest. Adversity is a bridge that can draw us closer to God and give us a deeper relationship with Him. Rick Warren uses the statement that God never wastes a hurt. God will use your painful situation to teach you about His love and faithfulness. If you seek after God, you will gain new insight and understanding that will enrich your relationship with God. Remember that God has a purpose for allowing your adversity. You will realize that you need God and no matter how bad your situation might be God is still in control.

So, when adversity strikes the first thing you should do is turn to the Lord and ask Him to show you what you need to learn in that situation. Remember God is with you.

Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
