Yahweh Rophe, “The Lord Who Heals”
Yahweh Rophe (YAH-weh RO-fee) “The Lord who heals”. I am sure we all are praying for someone that needs healing. It might be a family member, a close friend, an associate, or someone we have never met. We live in a fallen world where our bodies get weak and sick with disease, illness, and age. It is especially hard to watch a loved one slowly lose their health. My mother use to tell me getting older isn’t all it is cracked up to be. Life is precious and God has put a desire in us to live. I have lost friends to illnesses, and I have had friends that God healed. I had prayed for both and all I can say is that God is Sovereign as to when the healing will take place.
Don’t let sickness make you so bitter that you give up on your relationship with God. And certainly, keep praying for His hand to move in your life and bring recovery. You have His promise that complete healing will come one day, whether it is in this life or in eternity.
My father had a slow debilitating disease that eventually took his life. The night he passed was a night I felt so at peace. I knew that my dad had complete healing for all eternity. My prayers had been answered.
James 5:14-16
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
