We need God’s Wisdom

Time is a precious commodity in our lives. It seems like we are always scrambling to get things done in our busy lives. As you go through the different phases of life there are different things that eat up our time. I can remember when our kids were elementary school age and my wife, Terri was going to nursing school, mornings were hectic. Everyone that has a family know exactly what I am talking about. Then as we developed our careers, we were always in a rush to get to work and get our day started. Well as life moves on, time is still a precious commodity. It seems like we struggle to make time to talk to God in prayer.

Where do we put prayer in our priority of things to do for the day? Terri and I during our working career developed the practice of starting our day with prayer early in the morning before our day got crazy. The most valuable resource we have as Christians is God’s Wisdom. Do we utilize this resource? You might ask how do you get God’s wisdom? God has infinite knowledge of anything we might be dealing with, and He is there to guide us. All we need to do according to James 1:5 is to ask God for wisdom. It may feel awkward at first, as we talk with God in prayer and we may not know what to say, but God is kind, and in His presence, we will find peace for our souls and guidance for our daily lives.

James 1:5

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Prayer needs to be a priority in our life, even if you have to get up earlier in the morning to make time to talk to God. When we have a regular practice of prayer, we train our minds to dismiss the distractions of the world and focus instead on the sufficiency and power of God and His promises. Spending time with our Lord and Savior we can develop a more meaningful connection with your heavenly Father.
