“Trials and The Crown of Life”

Have you ever thought about the trials we will face this upcoming week? It isn’t about if we face trials, it was about when we face trials. As Christians we will face trials in our life. James the half-brother of Jesus, tells us to count it all joy. He goes on to tell us that there is a benefit in our Christian walk to face trials. The scripture in James tells us that the testing of our faith will strengthen our faith and make us mature in our faith.

James 1:2-4

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Now over the years there have been trials that I have failed, big time, there has also been trials that I have withstood, and it grew my faith. James tells us that for those Christians that withstand their trials, he uses the word perseveres that they will receive a the “Crown of Life”.

James 1:12

12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

That brings up a question what is the “Crown of Life”? The “Crown of Life” is for those who persevere in faith through temptation, tribulation, and persecution. Therefore, the crown of life is a reward for a life well-lived. It is an honor that Jesus bestows upon those who endure the trials and temptations of this life. The “Crown of Life” is a special honor, reward, or recognition given by Jesus to those who stand up against the temptation and trials of the devil. This recognition and reward will be received at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

So, as we go through our trials this week. Realize we are going through them for a reason and stay the course, persevere.
