The Helper
During the last supper, Jesus was telling His Disciples that He was going to leave. Although, He was leaving He was going to send them a helper.
John 15: 26 – 27 (ERV)
26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.
As Christians we have the indwelling Holy Spirit. Living the Christian life in our own strength is impossible. The Holy Spirit will help us live the Christian life.
Take steps of obedience to allow the Holy Spirit to work within us and lead us to live the Christian life.
We have to deal with the deeds of the flesh. The Holy Spirit will help us, but we are responsible to do it. If we don’t it can destroy the peace and joy that God wants us to enjoy.
Romans 8:13
13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
Have you ever had those times that you do something that is from the old nature. You still have the old nature, there are times I know I am a Christian, but then I do something that I shouldn’t do. I need to die to the deeds of the old nature.
Galatians 5: 16-18
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Live like we are a child of the King.
