“Take Up Christ’s Cross”
Updated: Aug 15
Luke 9:23-24 (NIV)
“23 Then he said to them all, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”
Christ message was clear, for His disciples to follow Him, Christ’s disciples must deny themselves and instead trust Him completely. This hasn’t changed. To be a disciple we are to trust Him and follow Him.
I enjoy watching the series of “The Chosen” This is the story of Jesus and the disciples that were chosen by Jesus to follow Him. These men gave up their livelihoods to follow Jesus. What a sacrifice they made for us to be able to know Christ today.
The Disciples learned from Jesus and followed his ways. Then they went out and taught others to be Disciples. One of the things Christ showed them was His Love for mankind. This is a good thing for us to do. Learn about Jesus and follow His ways, then put it into practice.
In John 13:34 -35 (NIV)
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”
We need to show Christ’s Love in how we treat other people. Look for ways to show Christ’s Love to others. It is not always easy, but as we deny ourselves and take up Christ’s cross His Love will be exhibited in our lives.
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 (ESV)
11 For you know how, like a father with his children, 12 we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and Glory
As we start our day look for ways to show Christ’s Love to others.
Have a great day.
