Family Legacy
“Family Legacy”
This weekend I am attending a family reunion. Reunions give you a chance to look at how your family has changed over time and then how some things have not changed. I have seen pictures where my grandparents were young attending family get togethers. There is a family legacy that has been developed over the years and it is still alive today.
Family legacy is something that is passed on from family. Our family legacy is one that is filled with love. I was lucky to grow up in a family that showed love to each other over the years. As we gathered there is sense of peace and joy in seeing aunts, uncles, cousins, their kids and grandkids having fun together. It is enjoyable reminiscing about growing up together over the years. I noticed acts of kindness towards one another and gentleness towards relatives who are getting a little frail.
Over the years members have moved to far reaches of our country. Not everyone can make it to the reunion as they are scattered all over our great country. Some had periods of times when they served in the military. Our family reunions have faithfully continued and will continue.
Overall, I think my grandparents Rose and John would be proud of the family legacy they helped instill in their family. Some of the same characteristics our family exhibits are the same characteristics we can receive from our Father in Heaven. The Fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
