Do you have Peace in Your Life?

Today we are talking about peace, so we are back in Galatians 5:22-23 talking about the fruit of the Spirit.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Peace in the bible means we experience a life that is the harmony and calmness of body, mind, and spirit trusting in the power and grace of God.

We can have peace in our life no matter what the circumstances are. However, as Christians we can surrender our peace. When I say surrender, I am saying we have a choice to make each day.

In Philippines 4:4 Paul wrote.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Did you know Paul wrote this why he was in a Roman prison. So, even with Paul in prison he was still able to rejoice in the Lord. Jesus has given this peace to us when we accepted Him as our Lord and Savior. The benefits of living our life with Christ’s peace inside of us is great.

Paul experienced peace that guarded his mind even while in prison. Do we experience this peace that is available to all Christians at all times or is it something that comes and goes in our life? When we get blind-sided by circumstances in our life do we still have that peace or does anxiety take over us? It is these times that you can feel life you have lost your peace.

As Christians we need to guard our thought life. This can lead to rebellious thoughts, negative thoughts, impure thoughts, gossiping and lead to giving up our peace. That is right, no one takes our peace, but we can give it up by choice. So, reject those thoughts that are not from God. So how do we change what we think about and keep our peace?

The bible tells us we can keep our thought life right and avoid the times when our peace leaves.

First thing we need to do is PRAY. Paul in Philippians 4:6-7 wrote.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

The second thing we need to do is stay in the WORD.

Psalm 119:165

165 Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.

We need to stay grounded in God’s Word, so we do not stumble. God’s Word is truth and the more we read God’s Word and spend time in prayer it will help our thought life. We will find ourselves pondering on God’s truth instead of things of the world. The choice is ours; If we make the choice to fill our minds with the evil things of the world instead of God’s Truth, we are heading down the road of losing our peace. Keep your peace and stay grounded in God, by staying in His Word and in prayer.
