Danger of Bitterness
As believers, we are not exempt from having to deal with bitterness. If we don’t deal with bitterness in our lives, it can become a poison that erodes our optimism, shatter our joy, and kills our ability to love others. A bitter person goes through life with a heart that doesn’t function fully. It can spill out into our relationships, which leads to regret, pain, grief, hatred, spite, and spiritual poverty.
God doesn’t intend for us to live with bitterness. When bitterness attempts to take over our hearts, we need to come back to our Lord. God did not promise life would be easy. Many times, it doesn’t seem fair as we are tempted to give over to bitterness. It is a choice that we make, and Jesus taught a better way.
In Ephesians 4:32 it tells us to make peace with God and man. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other as Christ forgave you.”
Romans 8:12
18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Whenever, we feel tempted with bitterness, tell God what you are feeling. Believe me, He already knows. When we humble ourselves before God, He can give us a peace that will make bitterness melt away.
