Dad, do you have a Minute?

My boys hardly ever called me at work to chat; however, occasionally I would get a phone call at work from one of my sons. On the other end of the line I would hear, “dad, do you have a minute?” I knew that one of my sons needed to talk with dad. Many times, it was to bounce something that was on their mind off dad to see what I thought. This is just part of being a dad. Sometimes it just helps to talk to dad. I occasionally still get a phone call.

It is not only good to talk with our earthly father, but it is good to talk to our Heavenly Father. Have you ever felt like you needed to just stop what you are doing and talk with God? It does a lot of good just to tell God what you are dealing with. Praying has so many spiritual blessings.

  • Communication with God will help nurture our relationship with him. God also reveals things to us via His Spirit and in His Word.

  • Praying along with reading God’s Word builds our faith and drawing us closer to God.

  • If you are new to praying, talk with God like you would to a person close to you. Share your heart with God.

  • Give God thanks and praise in your prayers.

  • Tell God about your problems.

  • Praying can eliminate worry.

There are many more blessing you get by talking with your Heavenly Father. So don’t be afraid to ask your Heavenly Father if He has a minute.

Luke 11:9-13

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
