A God of Second Chances

Have you ever failed or let God down? I am sure we can all look at a time in our life when we let God down. I know I sure have, and I imagine we all feel the same. You feel bad on the inside for letting our Lord and Savior down. A feeling of being ashamed and questioning our own faith.

The bible is full of stories of men of faith that had failed. Remember Jonah, who refused to go to Nineveh, and he tried to get out of going to Nineveh by going to sea toward Tarshish. Then there was David who arranged the death of Bathsheba’s husband Uriah. Then Peter who cursed and denied the Lord the night before Jesus was crucified. All these men failed God at a point in their lives. So, we are in good company. We make mistakes and at times we fail in our walk of faith. But thankfully we have a God that gives second chances. Jonah, David, and Peter repented, and God gave them a second chance. God is full of Grace and Mercy and the same God that gave these men a second chance is the same God that gives us second chances.

Failure is big, but God’s grace is always bigger. Don’t let your past keep you from trusting God for a second (or third, or fourth) chance. The God of grace loves to forgive.

Psalm 86:15

But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

If you feel like you have let God down. Today is a great day to turn things around. God is a God of second chances.

你是否曾经失败过，或让神失望过？我相信我们每个人都能回想起生命中某个让神失望的时刻。我知道我肯定有过，我想我们大家的感受都一样。内心会为让我们的主和救主失望而感到难过，也会产生羞愧的感觉，甚至开始质疑自己的信心。

《圣经》中充满了许多信心之人失败的故事。还记得约拿吗？他拒绝前往尼尼微，为了逃避去尼尼微，他选择乘船往他施去。还有大卫，他安排了拔示巴的丈夫乌利亚的死亡。再有彼得，在耶稣被钉十字架前的那一夜，他咒诅并三次不认主。这些人在人生的某个阶段都曾让神失望过。所以，我们并不孤单。在信心的道路上，我们会犯错，有时也会失败。但感谢神，我们的神是一位赐予第二次机会的神。约拿、大卫和彼得都悔改了，神也赐给了他们第二次机会。神满有恩典和怜悯，那位赐给他们第二次机会的神，同样也赐给我们第二次机会。

失败看似很大，但神的恩典总是更大。不要让你的过去阻止你再次（或第三次、第四次）信靠神。施恩的神乐意饶恕。

诗篇 86:15主啊，惟有你是有怜悯、有恩典的神，不轻易发怒，并有丰盛的慈爱和诚实。
