“Slippery Slope”

Updated: Oct 27, 2023

Mark 7:20-23

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

As Christians even though our sins have been forgiven, we struggle daily with sin. We still need to be careful with sin in our life. We must guard against it daily.

In Timothy, he tells us to flee from sin and seek after righteousness.

1 Timothy 6:11

But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

Sin is a slippery slope that has consequences in our life. There is a saying that sums up the cost of sin in our life well. Sin will take you farther than you ever thought you’d go; it will keep you there longer than you ever intended to stay, and it will cost you more than you ever expected to pay.
