Hans Michael Cline “Klein” 1716 – 1783 was Darrell’s 6th Great Grandfather on his mom’s father side. Michael Cline was 60 years old when the Revolutionary War started, there are records of him delivering supplies to the North Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary war. He did have a nephew with the same name “Michael Cline” who fought in the Revolutionary War for the North Carolina Militia.

Hans Michael [Klein] Cline was born in Palatinate, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany in 1716. He was 22 years old when he came to America on the ship Charming Nancy, landing in Philadelphia on 9 Nov 1738. He moved to the German speaking communities north of Philadelphia referred as the ‘Pennsylvania Dutch” where German immigrants lived.

Michael married Catherine Schuffert on June 17, 1750. Around 1752 Michael and Catherine decided to move their family to Mecklenburg County in North Carolina. In 1762 Michael received a land grant of 121 where Michael and Catherine moved to present-day Cabarrus County, on the 24th of Jun 1762. Michael received a grant for 121 acres of land on Blackwelder's Branch of Little Coldwater Creek.
