I am sure we all have a picture in our mind of Joseph and Mary entering Bethlehem on what is now called Christmas Eve. Joseph leading the donkey, which pregnant Mary was riding. Joseph is desperate to find shelter for Mary to rest and be able to give birth. The destination would be a shelter for livestock with a manger for Baby Jesus.
