Have Thine Own Way Lord
Updated: Mar 2
One of my favorite old hymns is “Have Thine Own Way Lord”. Part of the song goes like this.
“Thou art the potter
I am the clay Mold me and make me After thy will”
God is the potter, and we are the clay. God has a plan for our lives and if we allow Him to work on us like a potter working with clay. He will mold us into what He wants us to be. However, in order for this to happen we need to trust God.
When we first come to know the Lord, we need to let God work on us. To do our part we need to get into His Word and try to read and understand what is in the Bible as best we can, with the Holy Spirit also helping us to understand what we are actually reading. Then we need to surrender to what God wants to do in our life. This isn’t easy because it takes obedience on our part. Now it takes patience, it doesn’t happen immediately, it will take discipline on our part as it takes time for God to turn us into what He wants to make out of us.
Isaiah 64:8
“But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand.”
Stay the course because God has a plan for us all. In Jeremiah, it tells us that God has a plan for us and it is a good plan. One to prosper us and not harm us to give us hope and a future.
In Jeremiah 29:11.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
