Don’t get ahead of God

I have often been accused of being a fixer. I guess a lot of us guys hear of a need and start thinking of a solution instead of waiting on God’s solution. Often, we allow our minds to wander and contemplate what is taking God’s plan so long to happen.

There are many stories in the bible where people got ahead of God’s timetable and there were consequences that happened. Abraham and Sarah were taught a lesson when they didn’t wait on God. Instead of the couple waiting for His timing, they initiated their own human wisdom and reasoning to find a solution instead of waiting on God. This involved Hagar, Sarah’s servant to accomplish what apparently, they thought God had forgotten to bring to fruition. It made sense to Sarah and Abraham. Hagar produced a son from the union with Abraham and named him Ishmael. Abraham and Sarah chose to use their plan instead of waiting on God and it caused problems and consequences.

We need to be careful not to get ahead of God. God has plans for our lives and He has his own timetable. So, trust God and wait on his timing.

(Jeremiah 29:11 KJV).

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”
